Clear Your Confidence Blocks
Break out of fear and
live a life you love.
Hypnotherapy uses hypnosis to induce a state of consciousness into a trance state. In this trance state you are relaxed, have heightened imagination and suggestible. These suggestions are what changes your attitude, your mindset, habits and behaviours.
The experience of a hypnotic trance is not so unusual or strange. It feels vaguely familiar to countless other moments in your life where you were absorbed in a zone, lost in thought, enthralled by bliss, or perhaps simply meditating. Meditation is actually the closest you can come to a state of trance without being guided there, as you would experience in hypnosis. I often refer to it as taking my clients on a journey, a metaphorical trip in your mind or imagination.
The depth of hypnotic trance varies from person to person. It can be light or extremely deep, depending on how willing you are to let go. The power of hypnosis does not depend on the depth of the trance, rather in the suggestions you listen to and how much you embrace these new ideas. Hypnotherapy feels relaxing, calming and soothing, very similar to an afternoon nap or meditation. You cannot be hypnotised against your will, you agree to let it happen.
The areas I work on with hypnotherapy are emotional eating, addictions (smoking, alcohol, sugar) and anxiety.
Does everyone respond to hypnotherapy?
Hypnosis has the capacity to work for the majority of most people but some are more susceptible to suggestions than others. The most important thing to remember is that you must be fully committed to the process and feel that you can place your trust in your practitioner. It’s also important to keep an open mind, as any scepticism may subconsciously dampen your susceptibility.
What will happen in a hypnotherapy session?
In an initial hypnotherapy consultation we will discuss:
- Your requirements and goals.
- Gather personal information such as sleeping patterns, lifestyle information, medical symptoms or medication, any treatments involving other healthcare providers.
- An explanation of how the hypnotherapy process will work.
Then we will proceed to the practical part of the session which will involve an induction where I will lead you into a state of deep physical and mental relaxation. Once you are relaxed, I will then begin the ‘change work’ using techniques and approaches to help you towards your goals and letting go of old habits.
Once the ‘change work’ is complete I will begin to transition you back into wakefulness in which you will gradually be brought out of a trance. Afterwards we will have a chat about any insights you may have had, your experience and any other questions.
You will get a Mp4 audio of the hypnotherapy session which you will listen to everyday for 7 days after your appointemnt. This further supports long lasting change.
How many sessions will I need?
This depends on the particular issue and problem you are coming in for. Anxiety and emotional eating generally take a 2 to 6 sessions, where as smoking and alcohol addictions can cease just after one session. It really depends on your goals and your willingness to let go of the problem. I often bundle a few different modalities together for anxiety and emotional eating. Feel free to get in touch if you wish to discuss your personal situation, so we can create an individualised program just for you.
