What is Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT)?

If you have ever felt stuck in high emotional turmoil with physical sensations like butterflies in your stomach, tightness in your chest or throat, then you need to know about Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT).

Emotional Freedom Technique is based on the premise that all negative emotions are caused by a disruption in the body’s energetic system. When negative emotions are causing turmoil within you, it creates an energetic block leading to physical discomfort.

Emotional Freedom Technique essentially is a form of psychological acupressure, except no needles are used throughout the process. This healing technique evolved from Thought Field Therapy (TFT) that was created by Clinical Psychologist Roger Callahan. Callahan discovered that by stimulating acupressure/energy points lead to psychological relief for anxious and depressed clients.

Gary Craig, who studied with Callahan, identified a comprehensive set of energy points along the meridian lines of the boy that could be applied to treat any emotional issue. Gary called this Emotional Freedom Techniques, and achieved incredible results with this approach on a wide range of emotional as well as physical problems.

Think of it like this…

Imagine each person’s life as a river flowing downstream. The river can be fast and furious, or slow and steady. Most people, when they are younger perhaps, have free flowing water in their river, but little by little, as life passes, rocks begin to be added. The rocks can be of any size; the rocks of school or work challenges, to the bigger rocks of dis-ease and serious illness. These rocks can just be the little pebbles that we accumulate as life goes by.

At first, the river flows over the rocks, but as they accumulate, it begins to struggle and has to change its course. The river can become muddy or cloudy because of the turbulence, and may even become out of control and threaten to burst its banks.

Emotional Freedom Technique works to remove the rocks. It may not happen instantly, and sometimes the biggest rocks may take time to be removed, but removed they are, allowing the river to flow as it was meant to be.

Rachel utilises Emotional Freedom Technique alongside other healing techniques depending on the unique needs and goals of the client. EFT is often used alongside Kinesiology, to tap into the unconscious mind and identify what is truly getting in the way.
